NanoWriMo starts tomorrow. What's NanoWriMo you ask? November is National Novel Writing Month. It's where crazy writers like yours truly try and write 50,000 words in a month. A complete novel in a month is almost unheard of unless you are my best friend and writing partner Amy McCorkle.
50,000 words. In a month. Call it Missy's Mission Impossible.
I complete the competition last year (though the book was a novella of 25,000 words). It was the first time after several attempts. This year's idea scares the hell out of me. So much in fact that I had the idea a couple of months ago and quickly filed it away. I consider myself a romance writer. I love stories about relationships that end in happily ever after.
This story idea is hard. I've never attempted a first person story. Never written a piece of literary fiction set in the 1950s. And I've never based a story on a the life twelve year old girl who meets the King of Rock and Roll before he was the man he became. When I told Amy, the super writer who I mentioned above, about my fears she gave me the best advice I've received about writing yet. If it scares you it's the project you need to write. Over the next few days the project has really came together. The fear is still there but so is the determination. Hopefully December 1st I will be able say that I'm a NanoWriMo Winner.

New Blog...about....Wait for it....Everything!
Hello all! I hope that you enjoy my new blog. I tried the whole blogging thing before with mixed results. I have decided to give it the old college try again and who knows where it will end up...
This blog is going to focus on the things that are important to me. Most will have to do with things like movies, television, books, and my favorite sports (NASCAR and the Big Blue Nation especially). I will also document my journey to New York Times Bestselling Author! Hey a girl can dream right?
I will also from time to time tell you about my private life. I will however try and keep things civil but know that you will be getting my side and view of things. I will also change the names of the guilty so not to make matters worse. If Facebook has taught me anything it's to think before putting it out there for the world to see. Please feel free to comment and make suggestions to help make my blog the best one out there.
